FAA Flight "modification"?

Thanks to all who responded with letters and emails expressing concern.
WE successfully influenced the FAA to delay any implementation of this project for ONE year, pending further study and analysis.
While “kicking the can down the road” is not the solution, it allows community leaders some time to work with aviation experts to modify a plan for safety, efficiency and most importantly, sustainable noise abatement for neighborhoods affected by this issue. This will not go away without continued monitoring and active involvement in working with government administrations. Let us continue to work together and make good noise work for us!
We watch history unfold, our neighborhood we pass the halfway point of 2026, referred to in The Chinese calendar as the year of the Fire Horse. Certainly a good metaphor here. We are in our 99th year as a neighborhood development... a reminder that you’re never too old to grow and get better. We look forward to our 100th anniversary coming soon in April of 2027. We are a small residence historic community, always welcoming volunteers to assist in serving the projects that make Del Norte Place an active and welcoming neighborhood to be proud of. One person can make a difference and everyone should try. We encourage everyone to help in contributing toward our special celebration...
Middle Housing Bill Amendment
update
Unfortunately, the amendment bill, SB 1118, which was reintroduced by AZ State House Representative Matt Gress (R), did not pass the necessary majority of votes required to advance it to the Senate. It is still an important issue of development and will continue to confuse a fundamental misconception about affordable housing. The original bill (HB2721) is too broadly written. The simplicity of a 1 mile radius in which to develop "affordable" housing is largely a conflict upon the core of our concentrated urban population. It is a bypass that eases developer costs with potential allow destruction and replacement of historic homes with untenable and incongruous structures under the guise of "affordable housing". Multiplex designs were incorporated in historic districts long ago. But this new bill does not implement complimentary design requirements, thus impinging upon the iconic visual nature of our historic environments.
This bill has taken effect on January 1st, 2026... for now we wait till next year's legislative session to properly introduce another amendment that provides exemption to historically designated districts for protection. We need your outpouring of support to push this amendment. With large support from homeowners, we can save an honorable place in history for Phoenix urban residency.

The Encanto Park Boathouse was completed in 1936 with architectural design by Lescher and Mahoney, and Peper Construction Company. The boathouse was built as a concession for paddle boats and canoes. The Encanto Park lagoon was the first recreational water feature developed in a local public park in Phoenix.
The architectural style is Spanish Mission Period Revival and was a Public Works Administration depression era project.
Del Norte Place has been granted approval to use the Encanto Boat House as an alternative location for our Association Meetings courtesy of Phoenix Parks and Recreation. It is also s nice place at zero expense. AND CLOSER TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD. With its proximity within walking distance, we look forward to using the Boat House as well.

As of April 19th, 2023 we are officially recognized by the IRS as a private foundation, granting exemption from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3). Donors can deduct contributions they make to Del Norte Place Neighborhood Association (DNPNA) under IRC Section 170. We also are now qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522.
We hit the ground running with 2 fund raisers over the weekend with our Earth Day Neighborhood Plant Sale on April 22nd, and our assisting Abby Guiver with her estate sale on the same weekend. Abby was very generous to donate 50% of sale proceeds to the Del Norte Place Neighborhood Association. These two events grossed us just over $1,800! All those who donated and those who purchased from the plant sale can opt to claim charitable donation status on your contributions and purchase as is listed within the IRS guidelines. We are so grateful to all of our neighbors and those who have provided patronage for our events. We continue to move onward and upward as we anticipate future events for the benefit of our historic 96 year old neighborhood.

Solar Alley Lighting Project, fully funded by our Block Watch Grant
We are looking for resident neighbors who feel their back alley lighting situation could use some illumination. We have discovered a smart solar lighting panel that is fully independent of external energy requirments (a.i. no plugs or electric power required). At dusk it turns on a dim 100 lumens level which will be tripped by motion for 30 seconds to a much brighter 1000 lumens. After testing, we feel it offers a great option in lighting with minimal intrusion of continual brightness, since it dims to nominal but noticeable "stand by mode" when there is no activity to trip the motion detector. We have found a nice looking and substantial set up with a 10 foot steel pole (needs paint protection) that can be sleeved or permanently cemented into the ground, inside the back properly line (wall or fence) of a home. The height would insure very limited susceptibility to vandalism. The pole could also be planted in a substantive outdoor umbrella stand that gives the light set up more flexibility in usage... the steel pole and light themselves are very stable from wind issues, which would allow the option us using a weighted stand, as mentioned, for alternating locations or even sharing among neighbors. This is available at NO COST to anyone interested in getting one of the 8 remaining test lights.
